We are so proud of how well the Year R children have settled into school. This is the first week the children have all been in full time and they have enjoyed learning inside and outside. Although a little cold at times, generally the weather has been so wonderful and we have had so much fun in the sun. Thank you for coming along to the Year R welcome meeting - the handout from the session is now on the website in the Year R page.
This week we have continued our learning around Traditional Tales and we have been focusing on 'The 3 little pigs!" The children have enjoyed hearing different versions of the story including one titled 'Three little Wolves And The Big Bad Pig!' They have explored many challenges set up around the topic such as 'can you save the little pigs before the wolf eats them' which involved the children catching the pigs using nets in the water tray.
We have also spent this week learning about a fantastic maths resource called Numicon. The children learnt that the Numcion shapes had different value and they explored this in different ways.
Next week we shall be finishing the topic with focusing on 'The Little Red Hen'.
