Chandler’s Ford Infant School teaches music through a hands-on curriculum linked to the children’s topic work where possible. The children are lucky to have a music space where they can experiment, compose, listen and perform their musical sequences freely. We promote a love of music through our weekly singing assemblies and our performances during the year. The year 2 children are also have sessions with the music co-ordinator where they learn to play specific instruments at their own level. There is also an opportunity for Year 2 children to learn the recorder during lunchtimes. The children respond to music positively and can’t wait to stretch their music muscles, whether playing instruments, responding to music or using their voices. Music is taught on a weekly basis for all children as well as in our weekly singing assemblies where the children are exposed to a range of songs, techniques and are gaining a real love of music.
