Geraldine has been busy getting up to mischief! So far she has had plenty of naps, she has done lots of cooking and baking and has helped Miss Stonehouse do the gardening!
I wonder what she will get up to next!!
Here are some pictures of when Richard came to visit us at school. Richard is a Vet who works at Chandlers Ford Veterinary Surgery. We learnt how Richard and his team help people and animals when they are unwell. We learnt about how pets are examined and how different diagnostic processes such as X-rays may be taken in order to find out what is wrong with an animal.
We got to ask Richard some questions and found out that the biggest animal he had ever looked after was a wolf and the smallest was a bumble bee!
Whilst on his visit to school Richard noticed that some of our teddies looked like they had hurt their paws! He taught us how to apply a bandage to a poorly paw just how they do at the vets! We all had a go at bandaging up our teddies, they are feeling much better now!
A big thank you to Richard and Chandlers Ford Veterinary Surgery for coming to visit us!
The Kindness Café
To end our topic of ‘Have you filled your bucket today?’ the children arranged flowers, baked biscuits, cheese straws and scones to make a Kindness Café for people in the local community. We invited people from around the Chandlers Ford area to come and have some of our lovely food.
The children got to sit with the visitors and ask them questions such as:
Where do you live?
What is your name?
Do you have any children?
What is your favourite game?
The visitors loved chatting to the children and asked them lots of questions too. After our chat we got to sing our special bucket filling song that we have been practicing.
The children have been amazing bucket fillers, doing lots of kind things for other people. Our bucket filling will certainly be carrying on throughout the year!
The children have had another great week! We are so impressed with how well they have learnt the school routines including at lunch time. They have really enjoyed outdoor learning, especially writing notes to the fairies and elves and posting them in the magical letter boxes. They have loved cooking up some yummy, yucky mud cakes in the mud kitchen and getting creative in the construction area!
We can't wait for Monday when our first topic will start!
The Year R Team
We have had a fantastic first week in Reception! We have enjoyed exploring our new classrooms and the outside area. We made carrot cake and fried steaks in the mud kitchen, fixed the roads in the construction area and enjoyed reading a story in the outdoor book corner!
Inside we loved making homes for our puppies using junk modelling and practised counting with the linking elephants. We even took a trip to our school library to enjoy a book with friends.
We can't wait for next week!
