W/C 15th June 2020 - History Week: Time Capsule

Welcome to history week!

This week we will be making time capsules. There is no doubt that we are living through history right now. One day, all the things that are happening now will be in the past. When you have grown up, other children will be learning about what is happening now in their history lessons! What would you want to tell them about what your life is like now? Making a time capsule is one way for you to leave a message for other people in the future.

We hope you have a lot of fun making time capsules at home. You could collect everyday objects that remind you of this time to put in your container. You could make art work to go in there. You could write down your thoughts and memories of this time. You could take photographs or add articles from the news. The choice is up to you.

In the resources you will find a power point called 'What is a time capsule?' so that might be a good place to start. Mrs Clode has made a time capsule with her family and there is a video of her burying her time capsule on the website too. The home learning grid has some suggestions of other activities you might like to try.

There are also some story videos on the website about old toys that have been hidden away and the memories that they bring back when they are found again.

We hope you have fun in history week and we look forward to seeing what you get up to.
