E Safety

It is so important that our children learn to navigate the online world.  It is easy to fall into the trap of thinking that online issues are only for older children.  But it is important that we begin teaching children at a very young age, remembering that open dialogue is the most important tool we have.  It is vital that children know they will not be judged if something goes wrong and that they understand that the principles of positive online behaviour reflects positive behaviour in real life.

Our online world is not going away so we aim to teach children the skills to deal responsibly and resiliently with the changes they will face.

At Chandler's Ford Infant School we have policies and procedures in place to protect children from online harm.  You can find these in our Policies section of the website.

We have two dedicated times throughout the year when e-safety is a specific focus:  Unplugged week in the autumn and National Online safety day in February.  However, e-safety is woven throughout our curriculum and we use every opportunities to teach the children about navigating their online world.

Safer Internet Day 2024

This year the focus has been 'Managing influence and Navigating Change online'.

We have taught the children about the different 'change' scenarios that they may face online and how to deal with them.  We have used the message 'Stop, close, tell' and explored the importance of who to tell as their trusted adult.
