  • Year 2 visit to SeaCity Museum

    Thu 30 Mar 2023

Year 2 pupils had a lovely visit this week to SeaCity Museum in Southampton, to experience the Titanic exhibition. The children took part in activities that brought the story to life including handling artefacts, trying on costumes from the period, hearing the stories of the survivors and lots more. Thank you to all the parent volunteers who supported this visit.

  • Sustrans Smoothie Bike Visit

    Thu 30 Mar 2023

We have been taking part in the Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel, which is running from 20 to 31 March 2023 to encourage the children to actively travel to school. We had an amazing day in Week 1, when Bike It John visited school with the Sustrans smoothie bike. Every class had the opportunity to make a fresh smoothie from frozen fruits, apple juice and water. The children really enjoyed the visit and tasting the smoothie! Thank you Bike It John for leading this event.

  • Year 2 Hockey Tournament

    Fri 17 Mar 2023

In the second of our inter-school sports tournaments against Fryern School, year 2 pupils recently took part in a hockey event. As the sport was new to everyone, the pupils had been learning some hockey basics as part of PE lessons in the run up to the tournament. It was a bitterly cold day, and despite the threat of rain, we were so pleased that the tournament could go ahead as planned. Thank you to Fryern School for hosting the tournament and for Charlie & Jack of Ace Sports for their organising. Well done to all the parents and staff who braved the really chilly weather to support the children. Congratulations to CFIS Beech Boys and CFIS Cedar Girls teams for winning their sections and to all the pupils who competed. It was a really enjoyable and great opportunity for everyone who took part.

  • Hoop-a-thon

    Thu 02 Mar 2023

Congratulations to parents and pupils for an amazing Hoop-A-Thon competiton this year. The staff recorded personal hula-hooping bests for all the pupils at the start of the event, in the week before Spring half-term. There has been time at break-time, lunch-time and during PE lessons for the children to practise their hula-hooping. At the end of the week following half-term, new personal best scores were taken. The results were announed in Crown Assembly last week and all the children were issued with a certificate. As a school we were also aspiring to reach a total of 3000 rotations. The final  total of pupil personal bests by class were Acorn - 220, Conker - 251, Apple - 368, Cherry - 570, Cedar - 635 and Beech - 2452! We smashed our 3000 total and all the children improved their scores and many are very accomplished hula-hoopers. Thank you parents and your family and friends for sponsoring the children. All monies raised are supporting a new dipping pond in the gardening area of school.

  • Pancake Races

    Thu 02 Mar 2023

On Shrove Tuesday 'pancake day' all the children enjoyed taking part in pancake races. It was good to return to school after half-tern and our INSET day with such a lively and fun activity. There was good competition between class teams and plenty of opportunity to flip the pancakes, with mixed results! Here are some photos of Apple, Cherry and Cedar class taking part.
