"We have a responsibility to look after our planet. It is our only home." Dalai Lama
This year we are very excited to once again be taking part in a project alongside forty other schools in Hampshire.
For this project, we will be capturing and sharing our schools' voice and those of the wider community thinking about Climate Unity.
We will be producing two pieces of art work, one will be displayed in Southampton Art Gallery and the other will be an outdoor sculpture to be displayed at Hiltingbury Lakes.
Both pieces of art will be comprised of circular work, symbolic of the planet and ideas about eternity and inclusion. We will be using the technique of weaving in both pieces which will echo the 'spider', the master of weaving.
We are excited about being a part of this project which is about embedding ideas about climate change, eternity, protection and inclusion.

Today we celebrated the end of term with a fantastic Easter Bonnet parade.
All the children processed around the whole school, wearing their lovely Easter Bonnets for the parents and carers to see. Thank you all for the effort put into creating such super bonnets, and those present for your amazing support today. The clapping and encouragment made for a fun, joyful atmosphere. We tried to photo as many of the children as possible and have uploaded these below.
Following the parade, the whole school gathered on the school field to hear the children sing Easter songs. Year 2 did an amazing job singing 'Easter Jubilation' despite the technical sound difficulties. Year R sang 'find a little seed' and Year 1 'Spring chicken'. Well done children.
The proceedings ended with the children wishing everyone a 'Happy Easter'.
Enjoy your Easter holidays!
On Friday 4 March, the children received a tube of smarties and a card about Edith’s Hope Lent Challenge. We hope that you will get involved to support this. For more information visit this link. Edith’s Hope are raising money to support families in Kumi, Uganda, to build 10 homes for some of the orphaned children and families that they support. Anyone can take part, and set a 40-day challenge. Complete the challenge every day for 40 days (except Sundays!) to raise money for Edith’s Hope. The steps to complete the Smarties Challenge are: 1, collect and enjoy your smarties 2, name and design your tube 3, do jobs at home to earn 20ps or £1 coins during Lent 4, fill your tubes and bring them back to school by Friday 8 April 5, know that you did something awesome for an orphaned child.
The Smarties Challenge will raise awareness that even though we are all different and unique, we are all have a right to be treated fairly. And that whilst there is a difference between the hardship of orphaned children, not always having enough to eat, and the privilege the majority of us have, we can use some of what we have to love and be hope to those who haven’t.
100% of the money you raise goes to Uganda. Our staff will also give prizes to the best designed tubes. Go challenge yourself! |

This year we are very excited to be taking part in a project alongside 40 other schools in Hampshire. Each class will be creating a branch for our climate change tree which will be decorated and have leaves communicating the children's feelings/ideas and wishes about one of the topics:
Year R will focus on marine life
Year 1 will focus on energy
Year 2 will focus on global citizenship
The finished tree will be placed in a "climate change forest" in the grounds of Winchester Cathedral.
